Mermaids are famous for their beauty, with long, flowing hair and sparkling tails which can be any colour you like. People have been believing in mermaids for a long, long time. Back in the days of ancient Greece it was believed that a race of beings, half-woman, half-fish, inhabited the seas around Athens. These mermaids were known as Sirens, and their beautiful songs would lure sailors to their deaths on the jagged rocks from which the Sirens sang.
